Blazers Escape Against Kings

You ask me, the Blazers are too young to do much damage in the west.  They are also too reliant on jump shooting and they were baled out tonight by Brandon Roy and Joel Przybilla.  The Blazers shot 40% as a team and escaped with victory when John Salmons shot fell short as time expired.  Coach Nate McMillan described his team as “not scrappy enough” while I would say they lacked focus, a problem one can often find with a young team.  The positive?  The won the game, for one, and they should only improve as they gain experience.

Greg Oden returned to the starting lineup for the second time and looked out of sorts chasing Sacramento’s big men around the perimeter.  Oden finished with 3 points and 4 turnovers.  But it was Roy’s shot making down the stretch (season high 28 points on 10-19 shooting) and some sloppy Sacramento play that led the Blazers to victory.
