Walk of Shame – First Up 1/6

Had some things to take care of so you get the Walk of Shame Late Edition. Smilin’ Sammie Stroughter.
- The President-Elect is following Oregon State basketball.
- Referring to the quote from Calvin Haynes that seemed to rip on former OSU coach Jay John…Haynes softens his stance.
- And another small look ahead for the Beaver football team in 2009.
- Oregon State has Sammie Stroughter, Victor Butler, and Brandon Hughes in the East-West Shrine Game, a post-season all-star game for seniors.
- Washington now has their defensive coordinator and it is somewhat surprising that Nick Holt would leave perennial national title contender USC for the same position at UW. Holt was not making the calls on gameday for USC though and he will have that opportunity at UW.
- Darius Miles is now playing for the Grizzlies. What does this mean for Portland?
- I saw this and I laughed. Eddy Curry REALLY fits in with what the Blazers are trying to do, right? (via HoopsHype)
- Dwight Jaynes on the possibility of the Blazers acquiring David Lee.
- Hahaha! Stupid Atlanta Braves. Sorry, that was personal. I didn’t really mean it.
- “Cubs Banking on Bradley to Stay Healthy.” Um, good luck?
- Andy Pettite isn’t going to be a Yankee? We’ll see. Oh, and the Yankees suck.
- OSU is on the short list for highly touted Hawaiian safety/linebacker Aulola Tonga. Also OSU is on a three team list for stud JC defensive end Donnie Pritchett (with Utah and Kansas). Hope Pritchett works out better than Simi Kuli. (Subscription site, more info after the jump.)
- Rey Maualuga is my hero.
Aulola Tonga:
Oregon State defensive coordinator, Mark Banker, who happens to recruit the Islands as well as anyone will be visiting with Tonga this month.
Tonga has drawn comparisons in style of play with senior Oregon State safety, Al Aflava. He is very humble, hard working, tough, aggressive and hard hitting….
Does Tonga have any favorites going into the last month of the recruiting season?
“I like Washington and Hawai’i,” Tonga said. “Washington and Hawai’i wants me to play safety and they also said I could play outside linebacker.”
“All the other schools that are recruiting me like me as an outside linebacker,” Tonga said. “I would prefer to play safety in college.”
Tonga goes on to say he is a Mormon and he wants to attend a school that respects his wishes to go on a mission.
Donnie Pritchett:
“Kansas sent most of their coaching staff to visit. Oregon State has also been by.”
At this point, Pritchett says that he is looking at three schools. Kansas, Oregon State and Utah.
“All three have said they want me there,” said Pritchett….
With a visit set up to Kansas on Jan 16th, and two more pending visits to Oregon State and Utah, Pritchett will be looking to make a decision toward signing day.
He’ll graduate this spring as a 3×2.
Not to destroy OSU fans’ hopes but my uneducated guess is Tonga goes with UW and Pritchett goes with Kansas. Just hunches based on their comments and UW’s recent coaching changes.
