Walk of Shame – First Up 1/9
He’s Mike HAAAASSSSSS… Yesterday was a big day at Quizz and Quon thanks to this and this.
- Oregon State men’s basketball team Pac-10 victory parade ends at one. It was fun while it lasted boys. At Arizona on Saturday.
- Those young Ducks lost again. This time to the same Arizona Wildcats the Beavers face next.
- Ho-Hum. Some more national recognition for freshman Jacquizz Rodgers. (via Ted Miller)
- Al Aflava has now been added to the roster for the East-West Shrine Game. I am slightly confused since Ted Miller had already announced that Sammie Stroughter was on the team.
- A great look at the boxing scene in the first half of 2009. Some big names fighting, most notably Antonio Margarito vs. Shane Mosely.
- Did Jerryd Bayless break out or was it merely a fluke? I would guess he isn’t as good as he looked against the Pistons (at least he won’t be on a nightly basis) but not as bad as he has looked up to this point in the season. Hope that helps.
- Because some people (one person?) still care about the Broncos.
- Seattle has signed Mike Hass! To a two year contract!! And they added Greg Knapp as their offensive coordinator!!!
- Some thoughts on an early NFL mock draft. I don’t see Seattle going with Stafford either.
- The Red Sox have added two high-upside players, Rocco Baldelli and John Smoltz. Both, if healthy, could have big years.
And since I am in such a good mood, two presents.
The first: The NBA League Pass is free January 19-25. Not that you care, Blazer fans. Stupid Mike Rice and Mike Barrett.
The second:
Here. (via Hot Clicks) A preview…

Really? Baldelli could have a big year??? Doubtful. This guy can’t even play on back to back days. He will be lucky to get 200 at bats this year. He is their fifth outfielder right now….so lets just back away from the big year talk.

I said “if healthy” both could have big years. Baldelli has a LOT of talent. They allegedly finally figured out what was wrong with him a couple months ago. If he could play every day he could have a big year. You can’t see Drew have a season ending neck breakage in spring training? I was reinforcing the fact I thought it was a good signing. Easy big fella.

You stated “big year.” If Drew gets hurt, Mark Kotsay, their fourth outfielder, will get a majority of his at bats. It is a solid signing….let’s not go overboard and say he is going to have a “big year?” Yes, I do know they had misdiagnosed him with mitochondrial disease but is still unclear if he will be able to play on back to back days.

Kotsay is garbage. If Drew is out and IF Baldelli is healthy I think Baldelli gets 400 AB’s. He could have a big year with those AB’s. I stand behind my statement.

Their career numbers are practically identical so if you are calling him garbage you are saying the same thing about Baldelli. He is what he is, a fourth outfielder who can also play a little first base. A big “IF” with Baldelli in regards to his health, last healthy season was 2004.
With the Saito signing, it looks like JD Drew may turn out to be the most durable player on the team. One website compared their team to a M*A*S*H Unit.

Thanks for the Broncos shout out. I think it you could draw a lot of people to your website from Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota etc if you plug them more often.

That is the demographic I have been going for!
